Foundation to educate, empower and embolden girls and women

Who are we? is a question best answered by our credo, which describes the core nature of our work. ‘Embolden her’, simply unfurls our individual involvement with each and every girl student, supported from initial selection, to her completing her education and reaching financial independence.

How do we do it? by simply being there for them. We see them as individuals with aspirations, coming from a challenging background. We also see their resilience, sincerity and capacity for immense hard work. Our continuous effort at being accessible to the students, for additional support and guidance, helps them complete their education.

‘Embolden her’ translates to, the foundation being a dependable part of the student’s journey, in aiding her education, and then ensuring that she's ready to step into the world of employment as a confident young person.

Sankalp Scholarship Scheme

The foundation’s first project ‘Sankalp Scholarship Scheme’, focuses on education and mentorship of meritorious young women from under-privileged backgrounds. Candidates with strong academic records and motivation to study further are carefully selected and vetted to check their economic background. We prioritise +10 and +12 class candidates for selection and depending upon the course of study and institution, individual attention is paid to their admission process, fees, and other requirements.

Taking them under our wings we provide them with wide-ranging support in their academic journey, in addition to monetary support, to enhance their performance and empower them in the process.

Each candidate is unique, with her own different needs and imperfections, and our focus is on understanding these characteristics with open communication, consistent support and transparency.

We also provide additional support to Institutions that admit Below Poverty Line (BPL) candidates. Working with their faculty, we assess their requirements to improve the learning outcomes and academic results of all the girl students. Where funds are lacking, we are able to pitch in to supplement the gap. For example, providing books for the library, or recruiting additional tutors to teach certain skills, or providing resources like newspapers and magazines to improve their overall knowledge and awareness.

Another initiative whereby we provide support is through guidance for scholarships, information about vocational training and other courses. Skill-based courses are chosen by the young women we support, with the intention of making themselves financially independent in a time effective manner. We provide them with multi-pronged support by giving them the right advice, relevant knowledge and financial aid.

Ms. Laxmi Duggirala, Founder, Inatman Foundation, explains briefly the process of selecting the students for the scholarship program, and how they are supported by regular monitoring and mentoring to achieve better results.

Swastha Scholarship Scheme

Launched the foundation's second project ‘Swastha Scholarship Scheme’ from Dec 22, focusing on financial support for education in medicine, physiotherapy, dental and nursing courses for young women from under-privileged backgrounds.

As in the ‘Sankalp Scholarship Scheme’, candidates with good academic records and motivation to study are selected and vetted to check their background. Attention is paid to their individual requirements and guidance will be provided at every step, till they successfully complete their selected courses.

This is a PAN India scholarship like all other scholarships provided by INATMAN Foundation. The application and selection process is the same as the ‘Sankalp Scholarship Scheme’. Some of these scholarships will be converted to ‘Name-based Scholarships’, provided the sponsors and the founders decide to do so.

Sahaya Initiative

Inatman believes in inculcating the right attitude, values and a sense of responsibility & commitment in the young women of the foundation family. ‘Sahaya’ is launched as an initiative based on these principles and actioning it by giving back to the community in whatever capacity possible.

It also provides a platform to the young women to connect with each other, to build on interpersonal skills. In these interactions, they are encouraged to guide each other during exams, work part-time for remuneration and to step in as mentors when needed.

As they need to compete with the other students, perform well in their exams, interviews, internships and finally in their work, they require a wholesome support that involves various factors. We strive to provide all those with continuity. With our twice a week virtual communication sessions, the girls find their voices to express their thoughts, be articulate and communicate better. These sessions enable the transformation of these hesitant girls into confident people.
